Anything you placed out previously can be placed into the cart. Also, there are now new materials that Allied Waste will accept, including plastics 1, 2 and 5 (see the question on identifying plastics), pizzas boxes that have minimal grease and food, and milk and juice aseptic containers.
Materials that can be placed in the single-sort recycling cart:
- Newspaper and Newspaper Inserts
- Magazines and Catalogs
- Junk Mail and Envelopes
- Office/School Papers - colored paper also!
- Cardboard
- Boxboard - cereal, cake, and cracker boxes
- Brown Paper Bags - grocery type
- Aluminum Cans
- Tin and Steel Cans - please rinse them
- Glass Jars and Bottles
- Plastic Milk Jugs and Containers
- Plastic Containers - Numbers 1, 2 and 5, please rinse them, caps can be left on
- Phone Books
- Aseptic Juice and Milk Boxes and Containers
- Pizza boxes - Free of grease
- Pop and Beer packaging
Items that should not be placed in the recycling container:
- No food waste, garbage, or yard waste
- No food tainted items - used paper plates, towels, or napkins
- No egg cartons
- No ice cream cartons
- No aluminum foil
- No aerosol cans
- No hazardous waste - compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) light bulbs, oil, paint, or chemicals
