Bags Tournament

Be a part of New Brighton Parks and Rec Fest! Sign-up to participate in our bean bag tournament on Saturday, July 24 at Lion's Park starting at 2:00pm. Teams of two (16+) of any gender will participate in three rounds of round-robin play and then single-elimination playoffs.

A match will consist of three games to 21 or greater (no skunk rule) regardless if one team wins or loses the first two games. If teams are unable to finish the third game, the team that is ahead when time expires will win. There will be a 45-minute time limit per match. If teams are in the middle of a game when the time limit expires, teams shall finish the round and the score will become official.

Points earned per game:
- Win = 1 point
- Tie = 1/2 point
- Loss = 0 points
This is per game. The total points that one team could accumulate in one match is 3 points.

Three points for each bag in the hole. One point for each bag on the board. Score is the difference in the team totals. Bags pushed by an opponent's toss count as normal scoring. If the bag is on the board it counts. The bag can be rolled on, bounced on, or thrown directly onto the board; lift the board for questionable calls.

Registration will cover you as well as your teammate. Once registered, please email kelly.distad@newbrightonmn.gov your team name. Team must remain the same for the duration of the tournament. Prizes for the 1st and 2nd place team.

New Brighton Parks and Recreation’s 1ST Tail-Waggin’ Event!

Sunday, October 10 | 1-4pm |Hansen Park: 1555 5th St. NW New Brighton, MN 55112

Dog owners, dog sitters, dog walkers, and dog lovers- mark your calendar for New Brighton Parks and Recreation's very first barkin' awesome and furrtastic dog event: Tails on the Trails!

Take your pup for a walk on the trails of Hansen Park while you visit company and rescue booths, see special dog-related demonstrations and let your leashed pup socialize with other neighborhood friends. Strike a pose with your pup in our photo booth, enjoy a quick and fun “doga” (dog yoga!) workout, and enter your doggo into one of our dog-related competitions, including "dog & owner look-alike", "oldest and youngest dog", and "fastest tail." While there will be treats to purchase for your four-legged friend, food trucks will be available for the rest of us.

This event is free to attend, but participants should bring cash if they want to purchase items from vendors or food trucks or participate in the photo booth.

Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet at this event.

Photo contest: We want to see your pup enjoying the park! Use the hashtag #tailsonthetrailsNB to enter our photo contest for a chance to win a prize and have your photo featured in a City publication.
