Vehicle Registration Service Options

Here are three ways to renew your tabs!

1. Online Waitlist

An online Waitlist replaced our outdoor service window so we can continue limiting the number of customers waiting inside the building during the colder months.

The Waitlist is for quick transactions like tab renewals, game and fishing licenses, and DNR tab renewals.

When you arrive in the parking lot, please wait in your vehicle and add yourself to the online Waitlist.

Next you will receive a notification when it is your turn to enter the building!

*Cash, check or credit card accepted (2.49% credit/debit processing fee).

2. Mail it in (Instructions below)

Drop Box OUtside

3. Use our Drop Box (Instructions below)

The Drop Box is located on the lower level parking lot outside New Brighton City Hall. It is the same one for utility bills.

Renewal notices and payments left in the Drop Box before 11:00 am will be mailed out next business day. After 11:00 am will be mailed out within two business days.

*This service is available for current Minnesota Residents and only for tabs.

*This option is not available for Dealers.

*No cash accepted at drop box.

Instructions for renewing your vehicle registration

Include your insurance company name, policy number, and expiration date (MM/DD/YYYY) with payment and Renewal Notice(s) in one envelope

There are two options to make a payment for drop box and mail in:

  • Pay by check! Checks should be made payable to The City of New Brighton and include a current phone number and driver’s license number.
  • OR print and fill out a Credit Card Authorization form.

*Verify address and Minnesota County on your registration renewal notice. If no changes are noted on the renewal notice, it is assumed that all information is correct and accurate for processing.*

*The Deputy Registrar reserves the right to not process tab renewals if information is missing or incorrect.*

*If you are picking up tabs for someone else without the renewal notice you will need to have an original Authorization Form completed by the owner. Please note it must be an original with a live ink signature.

  • Insurance company name, policy number, and expiration date (MM/DD/YYYY) required.
  • Payments Accepted: Cash, check, *American Express, *Discover, *MasterCard and *Visa. *Debit/credit cards are charged a 2.49% processing fee
