Candidates

To Become a Candidate

Individuals get their names on the ballot by filing an Affidavit of Candidacy with the appropriate filing officer during the designated two-week filing period.

If you bring a signed affidavit to the filing officer, it must also be notarized. If you sign your form at the filing office, staff can certify the Affidavit of Candidacy. A filing fee (or petition in place of a filing fee) is also due at the time of filing.

Candidates for municipal office in New Brighton will receive a packet of information, including information on campaign finance, and will be offered an opportunity to attend a brief candidate information session.

2019 Elections

There are no municipal, county or state issues on the 2019 ballot. However, local schools may still elect school board members in odd-numbered years.

Please contact your school district elections clerk to learn how to file your Affidavit of Candidacy for School Board.
