Group Fitness Classes

Register Button  Spring/Summer Group Fitness Schedule

  • Team members equipped with disinfectant spray bottles and towels for regular cleaning of all high-touch surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectant.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting processes in the fitness center and studio each evening.
  • Hand sanitizing and cleaning stations throughout the fitness center and studio that provide disinfecting products for members to apply before and after using the equipment.
  • With everyone’s health and safety in mind, please uphold the following prior to visiting the club:
    • Stay home if you’re feeling ill. (Fever, coughing, cold-like symptoms)
    • Bring your own water, or refillable bottle as drinking fountains will be limited to bottle filler option only at this time for safety

Pickleball Open Gym

New Brighton Community Center offers open pickleball in the gymnasium. Participants will be required to check-in at Guest Services and are asked to submit their $4 payment before entering the gym. Participants should bring their own paddle. Balls and nets will be provided.

Volleyball League

In partnership with Spring Lake Park Parks and Rec, New Brighton Parks and Rec offers both women’s and co-rec indoor volleyball leagues in the fall and winter. Teams will be guaranteed 10 games. Registrations will be taken on a team basis, but those without a team can register as a free agent for teams looking for more players or subs. Awards will be given to the first place team. Fee includes facility rental, referees and championship award.

Adult Softball Leagues

A variety of summer and fall softball leagues are offered in New Brighton.  Men’s and Co-Rec Summer Leagues are offered with your preference of single or doubleheader games.  Summer leagues run from the end of April to the end of July.  All games are played on New Brighton fields.  Fall leagues run starting mid-August for 5 weeks of doubleheaders.

CPR/AED, First Aid and Life Saving Classes

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Once registered for the class, a link for the online course material will be emailed to you. Allow approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

Our adult dance classes are open to any adults wanting to learn a new style of dance, brush up on moves for an upcoming wedding, or just looking for a night of fun with friends! To see our offerings, click the link below.

Kicker's Karate

American Tae-Kwon-Do Karate for boys, girls, teens and adults is designed to teach participants self-defense, safety awareness and teamwork, while increasing flexibility. Students will focus on developing the basic fundamentals of kicking, punching, blocking and defense techniques. Participants should wear loose comfortable clothing and wear a mask. Hand Sanitizer will be available at the door. Equipment will be cleaned prior to and after use. Social distancing will be implemented.

The New Brighton Parks & Recreation Department publishes a detailed newsletter every two months in order to inform interested adults and seniors of upcoming trips, programs, and activities for Life Long Recreation. Also included is a detailed calendar of events that you can cut out and hang on your refrigerator for a great reminder to attend our monthly events! Hiking Club

If you enjoy walking outside, join the New Brighton Park and Recreation Hiking Club. The club will meet on Wednesdays from April-October.  You can choose to join us for the spring session, summer session 1, summer session 2, and/or the fall session.  If you want to hike all 30 weeks, you can sign up for all of our sessions! A hiking location schedule we be sent to participants before the first meeting date of each session.  Each week we will hike about 2-3 miles and walk at our own pace.  Participants will need to drive themselves to all locations.  A representative from Parks and Recreation will accompany hikers each week to encourage fellowship, exercise, and scenery of the great outdoors.  Please note: Walking and standing is required.  Register by March 28 for the spring session, May 23 for the summer session 1, June 27 for the summer session 2, and August 22 for the fall session.

Hiking Club members are encouraged to wear masks while hiking, socially distance when possible and follow all State Guidelines to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Education and Enrichment Workshops

Our workshops are designed to have adults gather as a group to learn and discuss various topics in an effort to help aging adults live life well. The speakers and format will vary depending on the topic, but we will always have time for a bit of fun and socializing too. Each of our Education & Enrichment Workshops will be sponsored by the participating company who will also provide a short description for their products or services. Although these programs are often free, we would still ask you to register for them so we can plan facilities accordingly.

Trips, Tours and Travel

Day Trips

We are pleased to offer full day trips for adults in collaboration with the City of Roseville and the St. Anthony Community Services.  On these trips, luxury coach transportation is provided as well as an escort for each destination.

Mini Trips

Mini Trips are a way for adults to get out and enjoy a short excursion.  If you are interested in participating in local trips that are typically lower in cost and don't mind riding in a 15 passenger van for transportation, then our mini trips might be for you!  A new trip will be offered every few months.

Extended Travel

Destination travel opportunities are now available with the City of New Brighton Parks and Recreation department.  Call or stop to see all the domestic and international travel opportunities we offer through Landmark Tours.  Check the City Brochure for details about upcoming travel shows.

Make & Take Cooking Classes

Make & Take Cooking Classes are for ages 12 and up.  All materials and food are provided, along with step-by-step instructions and information to give participants the tools to cook each item on their own. Each participant will head home with a meal, treat, condiment, or other food item to enjoy later or gift to a loved one.  

Instructor Marilyn Hathaway RD is passionate about teaching others how to plan and make nutritious and delicious meals.  She believes everyone should have the opportunity to learn the lifelong skill of cooking. Marilyn received a Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Minnesota and is a registered dietitian. She also holds two Master’s Degrees and has many years of experience working in management, healthcare, higher education, and human resources. Previously, Marilyn managed a division of ServiceMaster, a company that provides food services for large establishments including hospitals and senior centers. Some of her specialties include Norwegian Baking, canning and preserving, and cooking for various types of diet preferences.

Weekly Activity Groups

To attend any of our weekly programs you are must register for each week that you plan to attend.  Upon arrival please check in at the front desk and have your temperature taken. All participants must wear masks at all times while in the building, socially distance from others and NO drinking or eating.  When arriving at the activity room, participants are asked to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer.  We will be following all State Guidelines to avoid the spread of COVID-19.  

Chat and Color   
Coloring isn’t just for kids- come color and doodle with us!  Coloring has been shown to reduce stress, increase calmness and “zen” in your life.  Feel free to bring your own supplies or use the adult coloring pages, makers, colored pencils and crayons that we will provide.  An abundance of conversation and laughter will fill the room.  Registration required.

Inspiring Crafters (Formerly Known as Keeping you in Stitches)
Are you currently working on a craft project and would like some company while you are working on it?  Join the Inspiring Crafters group each week as they gather to work on their own projects, encourage each other and bring laughter into your life.  Registration required.

Yahtzee Game Play   
Yahtzee!  Come play this classic dice game with us and your friends.  Teams of two to four players will compete to see who can complete their scorecard first.  Each player will be provided a set of dice and an oversized scoreboard to use for the entire game. Get your enthusiastic voice ready to be the first to shout Yahtzee.  Registration required.

Duplicate Bridge  
Duplicate bridge is the most widely used variation of bridge.  In Duplicate Bridge, the same bridge deal is placed at each table and scoring is based on relative performance.  Everyone must provide their own partners.  Registration required.

Contract Bridge 
Contract Bridge is the most basic form of bridge.  The game is played in teams of two where you auction off cards to others to score points based on the number of tricks that you play. Registration required.

Mahjong
Mahjongg is a tile-based game that is played with four players.  In this game each player receives 13 tiles with the goal of matching their tiles to form sets or pairs to win.  Registration required.

Five Hundred Card Game 
Five Hundred is a game played with four or more people in partnership trying to lay down cards of a certain suit in hopes to be the highest card to win points.  Registration required.

Hand and Foot Card Game
Hand and Foot card game is a variation of Canasta, but is said to be easier to play.  Team of two players work together to earn the highest points while each trying to make pairs and be the first to get rid of all of their cards.  Registration required.

Cribbage 
Cribbage is a card game that uses a board to keep score.  In this game cards that are played are added together to achieve the highest score.  Several rounds are played to move your markers around the cribbage board to be the first person to reach 121 points.  Registration required.

Dominoes 
Dominoes is played with two or more players. The goal is be the first one to use all of their tiles by matching them to other tiles that have already been played.  Registration required.
