The Equity Commission is a group of community members, representing different races, ethnicities, languages, ages, genders, and other important characteristics. Its primary role is to provide guidance and recommendations to the City Council on matters pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the aim of fostering a more just and equitable community for all.
There are several ways to learn more about the Equity Commission:
New Brighton residents are invited to reach out to the DEI Coordinator, who serves as the Equity Commission staff liaison, at any time with questions, concerns, or agenda suggestions.
Additionally, if you are interested in joining the Equity Commission, applications open annually at the start of the year. Each commissioner's term lasts three years starting April 1st of the appointment year.
