Giving Back to the Community
A component to the Mission of New Brighton Department of Public Safety is to Protect, Serve, and Educate in partnership with the community. New Brighton Police Officers and Firefighters serve their community in ways beyond that of just providing emergency services. Each year members of our agency give back to the community through a wide variety of charitable giving and participating in various charitable campaigns.
Listed on this page are just some of the activities of our Police Officers and Firefighters which make our community a better place.
Special Olympics Torch Run
Members made financial donations to the Special Olympics and participated in running the Special Olympics Torch down Silver Lake Road from Rice Creek Road to West County Road E. Learn more by viewing the Special Olympics website.
American Red Cross Blood Drives
The Public Safety Department sponsors several blood drives throughout the year donating blood to the American Red Cross. Learn more on the Red Cross website.
Salvation Army Red Kettle
In December of each year the members of this agency ring the bell for the Salvation Army at Cub Foods of New Brighton located at 2600 Rice Creek Road, raising money for the Salvation Army.
Muscular Dystrophy Association Fill the Boot
Our members solicit donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by standing in traffic with a fire boot for generous citizens to participate in charitable giving.
Ralph Reeder Food Shelf
Public Safety partners with the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf to collect thousands of pounds of food and school supplies each year to help support the needs of the community.
New Brighton / Mounds View Rotary
Members of this agency participate in the Rotary is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
