Legislative Process

The City of New Brighton operates under the statutory Plan B Council-Manager plan of government. Under this style of government, all policy and legislative decisions are the responsibility of the elected mayor and 4 elected City Council members. The City Council has established several volunteer advisory commissions guided by a professional staff liaison to research, review and advise the City Council about subjects of interest to the city. including Land Use and Planning, Parks and Recreation, Economic Development, and Public Safety.
