Thank you for voting, New Brighton! We had a great turn-out – both at the polling places and for absentee voting!
Did you know that in Ramsey County, as an extra security measure, our new ballot counters do not connect to the internet and do not have WiFi access?
Accordingly, precincts in Ramsey County can not report results electronically from the polls. Every election, Election Judges from different political parties travel together to bring the ballot counters back to City Hall. Once all eight precincts have returned their machines to City Hall, the stored results are hand delivered to Ramsey County under police escort. The Ramsey County Elections Division adds the results from each precinct to the results from absentee voting and direct balloting that took place at City Hall, Ramsey County Elections offices and the various early vote centers. The total results are then immediately reported on the MN Secretary of State website.
The New Brighton City Council will be canvassing (officially receiving and approving) the results of this year’s election at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
